The Brew Therapy is based in Singapore but we ship globally. Today we talk about one of the machines we love and adore using for its simplicity, build quality and most importantly its ability to make delicious espresso - the Cafelat Robot by Paul Pratt.
Pulling an espresso shot with the Cafelat Robot
The Cafelat Robot was inspired by the Faemina baby (made by the same Italian company, Faema, that manufactures mean looking espresso machines for home and cafes). It is a cute, retro-looking vintage machine that pulls shots using a pressurised basket. You can see the similarities between these 2 machines in the pictures below.
The Cafelat Robot, compared to the Faemina, has a bottomless portafilter that allows you to view the espresso shot as it is being pulled. It is a thing of beauty. I've challenged myself to do a "Espresso shot every day for 30 days" and record the shots and my (hopefully) improvements along the way. I will be updating this page as we go along. But so far it has been a relatively easy machine to use and I have been getting some delicious shots and good extraction after using it to make less than 10 espresso shots.
