Your 60-second guide to café-quality coffee at home

No machine. One pod. Here's how to get it right the first time.

Step 1 — Pick your drink

One pod is a double shot (3g).

Black / kopi-o

Stir a pod into hot water. 120–150 ml (more water = lighter).

Americano, stronger

Same, less water. 80–100 ml.

Hot oat latte

Stir the pod into a splash of hot water, then add warm oat milk (a handheld frother makes it café-smooth). 30 ml water + 150 ml milk.

Iced latte

Dissolve in a splash of hot water, then add ice and cold milk. 30 ml water + 150 ml milk + ice.

Step 2 — The #1 mistake is too much water

If your first cup tastes weak, you've over-diluted it. Halve the water, or use two pods for a big mug. Specialty coffee isn't meant to be bitter, but it should never taste thin.

Step 3 — Match the origin to your taste

  • Want bold and chocolatey? Colombia: chocolate and cream, low acidity. The safest first pick for lattes.
  • Want it dark and strong? Indonesia Mandheling: spiced cocoa, toasted nuts, the fullest body.
  • Like it bright and fruity? Ethiopia Guji: tropical fruit, gentle acidity. Best black or iced.
  • Like it floral and delicate? Ethiopia Yirgacheffe: floral, soft citrus.
  • Can't decide? The Variety box has all four.

Step 4 — Store it cool and dark

It keeps up to 18 months.
